upgrade even further towards the present. but no matter what, there will be some modifications that youll have to do. if you find like a 90-91 m20 engine, thatll be the most direct fit that you could come by. but everyone thinks of going with the m50/m52 swap

it'll be a direct fit, both are the M20 engine; they are just tuned differently. And here's where the more knowledgeable members come in and discuss those differences:

same motor, only dif is the head and the stroke. if i were you i would keep the E motor. it has more torque. it is a great trade off, awesome fuel economy, and power when you need it. i can get 40 mpg if i try to.( if my gauge is correct)

Yeah i get good fuel economy, but im kind of a performance nut.Ive developed a bad rear main leak, and id probably be better off swapping this one out.Funny thing is, with about 300k it still runs great, but i know where this leads.Thanx guys

if your going to swap dont waste your time on another m20. update to the m5x engines. DOHC, more power, better curve and relatively direct swap with the correct parts. they can be had cheap if you look.

What all engines fall in the m5x category, are they the m50/52?
