Just curious what types of gifts the BMW dealers send out after purchasing a car from them....

I received a pretty cool little silver box from Halls about a week after I took delivery.

And since I got the same gift, I know you bought your 330xi from Baron, too.

Actually I got two. The day I picked up my car, I mentioned to the CA that a BMW tshirt would be nice. He walked over with me to their boutique, let me pick one out, then paid on his personal credit card. A couple of weeks later, a hanging plant was delivered to my house with a thank you note from the CA and dealer staff.

Bottle of car wash, 1 quart of synthetic motor oil, one bottle of BMW wheel cleaner, one chamois (sp?), two key chains, floormats, two separate gift certificates dinner for two to area restaurants.

Hmmmm...I guess I did pretty well all things considered, huh?

You gotta a frickin' chocolate bar? My wife gets one of those every time she goes to Infiniti for service. And she gets a loaner. What chicken ****. Those candy bars cost $1. I am not so sure that it is better than nothing. :thumbdwn:

the infiniti dealers around here fight tooth and nail not to give me a loaner, the service advisor once said, 'hey, it'll only take 2 hours..' :madrazz:

other times, they tell me they're out of loaners when the area right in front of the service bay is the loaner cars area and it has about a dozen loaners in plain view... :madrazz: :tsk:

maybe being 25 and looking even younger is why, when i once went with my mom they were super nice and gave us a loaner no problem. :tsk:

Really, what a bunch of BS. Of course, I do make my appointments in advance and I won't go if they don't give me a loaner. Tell them you'll complain to Infiniti and they might start singing a different tune. of course, they may just tell you that they aren't obligated to give you a loaner. Then you can tell them that they are no better than Nissan, which would be true. My experience with Infiniti is that they generally want to kiss your ass. Don't get me wrong, they'll try to screw you in their service department, but they are generally nice about it. Be forceful, get what you want.

P.S. Once my wife's Infiniti comes off of lease, I am kissing those bastards goodbye, hopefully permanently.

I got three gifts:
When buing the car: a silver BMW keyring.
At the 1 year check: a Montoya coffee mug.
At the Oilservice 1: a dealer-branded inox keyring.

The services were performed at a different dealer than the one I bought the car from, but didn't they think it is a bit late to get a keyring after 1,5 years of ownership? A Montoya cup to go with the mug would be much better!

Only one dealer in the town, so they didn't really have to compete for my buisness :(

From Cutters, I got:

- They installed my front license plate strip (saved time)
- 4 posters
- $25 gift cert to their "boutique", bought a shirt
- ED program sent a nice keychain
- lunch w/my sales guy
- killer deals on alum pedals, CD changer trunk liner and aforementioned bumper strip

Not too bad.

I got a meal for 2 from Omaha Steaks (http://www.omahasteaks.com).

Was a nice touch, considering I just bought ~$90k in cars. (2002 540i 6-speed and 2002 325xi wagon).

EDIT: Oh and ED sent me 2 nice pens.

I received a pretty cool little silver box from Halls about a week after I took delivery.

I got a $25 gift cert to the Cutter boutique.

But, what I cared about was that Jon & Franco scored me my M5 at sticker instead of 5 to 10K over! :supdude:

Cheers,

Brian

Yes, you did fantastic, all you had to do for $150 worth of free stuff was to buy a $40k car. Congratulations on your financial wizardry. Ever consider running for gov. of California so you can help balance the budget :p

What does the amount of gift depend on?
How nice the dealearship is, or the amount of $ they made on the purchase?

Just curious ;)

Nothing from my "cheap screw" dealer except a very good price. A beautiful fourteen page 21" x 27", 2003 BMW calendar and several cic posters from the BMW Group in Munchen who helped me get my European convertible alarm installed.

From my salesman upon delivery:

- a bottle of Champagne
- an umbrella - BMW F1
- a book about the history of BMW - in German
- various BMW posters

From my salesman since delivery:

- another umbrella :tsk:
- 12 hour BMW Driver Training session (winter course)
- a 2003 BMW calendar
- a "5" chrome key ring
- a "7" chrome key ring to give to a friend
- BMW wheel cleaning brushes - had to buy Style 32s + tires to get that
- BMW AG European road atlas

Since last week - he is trying to sell me another car :eeps:

- a leather gear selector
- invitation to BMW Driver Training session (summer course)

What have I, what have I, what have I done to deserve this?

Man did I make out...

Made a great deal on a nice set of really cool keys (one of them even lights up!) on a authentic BMW keychain.. real leather no less.. :)

They threw in a new car!

When I bought my '99 M3, everytime the car needed to go in for service or something, my salesman came to my work, left me a demo, took the car back for service and then brought it back.

That's service and that's why I've bought three cars from the same guy!

I'm sure much of it has to do with the profit made. If you do an ED and get good invoice+ pricing, I'm quite sure you won't get $300 worth of free stuff.

Somebody needs to educate my dealers on the proper graft and corruption procedures in order to bribe further business from me.
