Here's a youtube link to the video. Its season 13 episode 6.

The final quote in the video pretty much sums it up....

You should "buy the BMW because its slower, less exciting, more expensive and less well equipped". And they're serious that they like it more than the 370z.

slower - NO. The Z4 sDrive 35i is quicker 0-60 and in 1/4 mile

less exciting - NO. test drove a 370Z and kept wondering - Where's the TORQUE???!!!

more expensive - YES, but you get a much nicer higher quality interior with the Z4, more technology and a higher quality built car.

less well equipped - name one thing I can't get on the Z4 that the 370Z has. (except rev matching, which does not apply for those of us with the Auto DCT)

It doesn't matter... this is the guy who chose the SLK over the Z4. Who cares what he thinks. I will not apologize for wanting a BMW over a Nissan... despite how it "preforms".

Japanese cars, well engineered but no heart, no soul.

Not this baseless argument again... No soul? :dunno:

Curious - how do you determine if a car has "soul"? It's likely you don't know how, but don't like the sound of someone saying it.

Let's put this way. I went over to the z370 web site and did the full tour the other day. And oh yeah, the z370 has got all the tek wizardry money can buy, but frankly I don't need an rpm matching gadget when I downshift. If you're going to bother with a manual trans, you do it for the pleasure of mixing the gears. Otherwise, why not get a full auto trans or a dct. I know how to match my engine RPM's and don't need a computer with a bunch of electric-mechanical stuff doing it for me.

At 53, I'm old enough to have learned how to mix gears native. Our cars were all manual transmissions in those days, including both of my parents cars, my grandfather's pickup trucks, our work trucks, etc. Yes, some cars offered you a choice back then, but it wasn't a very good one considering it was either a manual or a "slushbox". Driving a real "sports car" (see below) was a natural extension of driving a normal car ***8211; minimalistic, compact, light and fun.

I think that's what all the e85/e86 Z4 M misery is all about ***8211; for the purist, BMW hit the ball out of the park with a modern day version of the original sports car ***8211; then they quit making it. I rejoice when I look at the cab of the e86 Z4 M ***8211; minimalistic and compact. The emphasis is on the suspension, the engine, communication with the road surfaces ***8211; the thrill of driving. You want a definition, well there you go.

IMHO, the z370 just doesn't have it. It's more like playing a video game than real life. And, an rpm matching gadget is for fanboys that like gadgets more than driving, or maybe they don't really know how to drive. It's true, the z370 is very impressive, but in this case, IMO, less is more.

How is a post in a completely separate forum/section a repost? If anything, that other post is in the wrong section! :P
