My local BMW dealer has a loaded 2009 X5D that I am about ready to buy or lease. I asked about the $4500 eco credit. He said that earlier in the year he already reported the vehicle and got the $2500 credit so the eco credit is not available. Does this sound correct? If so, can he use that months money factor and residual? as the the new money factor is not too good. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the car has already been "punched" which means the warranty etc. has also been started. I would not pay what they are asking, look elsewhere. :thumbup:

Sounds liked it is punched. But stock is getting low. Ask more questions and find out if indeed the warranty started.

I'm picking up mine on Friday that had the $2500, as it had been "punched" in early Feb, but I'm getting the $4500 Eco Credit, in addition - so $7k under invoice in total. I think they either don't know they can also claim the $4500 or they are trying to make extra $4500 on you. Good luck.

I just called my dealer and the CA said you could not 'double dip' and apply the 'punch' credit of $2500 with the eco-credit of $4500. I asked him to contact his rep and discuss this as it had been mentioned here on bimmerfest that it could be done. Good move?

Good move. Tell them that there is a dealer in CT-MA area that combined the credits on 2 cars. I'd be glad to fax you a copy of my purchase order, after I pick up my vehicle on Friday. That has the VIN and they could clearly see $7k under invoice.

Or your dealer made a mistake and they will let you know when you pick it up. This is my bet.

I believe a 2010 would need to be actually delivered by end of this month to get the $4500 credit. That would be a bit difficult, I think.

not a chance.
The reason I say this is that I was in the same position with a customer and when we went to submit the deal to BMW it kicked back the credit because of it be categorized as a specialty demo.
I hope you get it. Just wanted to give you a heads up. :thumbup:

No, BMW just announced it 20 minutes ago in a bulletin
Hre is part of it;
October allocation will be released to the dealers on or about August 21st.
Dealers wanting to lock the Eco Credit on a 2010 X5 xDrive35d or 335d model must have the production number designated as Priority 1 by the close of business on August 31st.
By doing so, the $4,500 credit will be locked on the designated model and the customer can take advantage of today's compelling offer on a 2010 model.
Please note that this process does not lock rates or residuals. It just applies to the Eco Credit offer.
MY 10 rates and residuals will be posted at the beginning of September

OK, I appreciate it. I will let you know on Friday how it works out. But, this dealer had two x5 35d's in this demo program. One has been sold and delivered a week ago, so they would have come across this obsticle, if it existed, and would have let me know of any problem by now, I believe.

Do you know the pricing (both MSRP and Invoice) on the 2010 yet? If so, could you share it? Also, do you know the exact changes for the 2010 model year? Thanks.

Believe it or not but BMW has not come out with 2010 prices on X5. Just X5M. Not sure on options so I would have to go with 09 order sheets and hope for a carry over. But the $4500 is the big issue so order one up and lock the $ in and tweak options later. IMO.

Thanks. I'm not really sure if I'd be willing to pass up the additional $2500 credit plus whatever the price increase may be from 09 to 10 - likely just for the new I-drive (which I have in my 335d). I have had the current X5's I-drive in my 550i and it was fine.

You are also losing 8 month of your warrant & maintenance on the 2009 you are buying, though.
Another thing you can ask is if you would order anything differently if you had to chance to do so? does the 2009 have anything you would not have paid for if you had the chance to order, or is it lacking anything you would have gotten?
If not and you are ok with the warranty issue, the 2009 sounds like a good deal.

Good points. I have thought about them. Technically, it's 6.5 months. I also wonder if a "punched" vehicle is eligible for the BMWCCA rebate. Anyone who knows, please advise. The car has only 25 miles on the odometer.

I wanted to check the wording on the BMW CCA page for any mention of in service date or "demo" status, and this came up while I was looking:
Bad news for diesel fans: The diesel models available in the U.S.—the 335d and the X535d, which BMW insists on calling something like the X5 xDrive35d—are not eligible for rebates
I guess you are out of luck either way.

That's outdated information. The diesels had not been included until April of this year, but now they are included. Here is the current models listing:

Well, in that case... I guess you would get it, unless there is an issue with the in-service date and/or the car being a demo. You might want to call them to make sure you will qualify?

Jim,
I'd like to thank you for this info, as I may end up looking into 2010 MY. That's mainly because the subject 2009 BMW X5 35d may not qualify for BMWCCA rebate of $1000, given that technically it may be considered a "retail demo". Is that something you're able to check, based on a VIN? In the system the car is owned by the dealership already, but it does not state that's a demo. I'm really confused and I will also attempt to check with BMWCCA.

In reference to BMW CCA rebate for diesel models:

Roundel 03-11-2009 03:12 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BMW NA extends Membership Rewards rebates to diesel buyers
1 Attachment(s)
Diesel models join X6 and 1 Series in rewards program
Cut-off period extended to cover early 2009 purchase
It was good news when BMW North America added the BMW X6 and the 1 Series to the Membership Rewards rebate program, but BMW CCA director Frank Patek knew that members would be paying attention to two new models that weren***8217;t on the list. ***8220;For years, our members have been excited about BMW***8217;s diesel technology,***8221; he said. ***8220;And now that a couple of BMW***8217;s bi-turbo diesels are available in the U.S., we felt that they should be included in the Membership Rewards program.***8221;
Apparently, BMW NA was convinced: So effective immediately, the diesel models available in the U.S.***8212;the 335d and the X535d, which BMW insists on calling the X5 xDrive35d***8212;are now eligible for rebates.
Attachment 1439The two BMW diesels sold in the U.S. are now eligible for BMW CCA membership rebates.
To qualify for a rebate, the vehicle must be purchased in 2009. That means a car you bought in 2008 is not eligible, even if you didn***8217;t take delivery until 2009; the retail sales date of the vehicle must be 1/1/09 or later. But the diesel rebate makes allowances for the late decision to include these cars. ***8220;Anyone who has purchased a diesel since January 1 can still turn it in***8212;even if they***8217;re past the normal 60-day mark for submission,***8221; says Tricia Jones, who coordinates the Membership Rewards program for the Club. ***8220;They will have until May 31 to submit the forms.***8221;
The popular Membership Rewards program has returned over $3,000,000 to BMW CCA members over the years. Recently, much of the paperwork has been transferred from BMW NA***8217;s New Jersey headquarters to the Club office in South Carolina, resulting in a more efficient process. ***8220;It***8217;s one of the nicer benefits of membership,***8221; says Patek. ***8220;We***8217;re grateful for BMW***8217;s support, and I***8217;m sure the company appreciates the loyalty of our members; it***8217;s a win-win situation.***8221;
The 335d sedan is eligible for a $500 Membership Rewards rebate; a CPO 335d is also eligible for $500.
A new X5 xDrive35d (to use BMW's label) qualifies the buyer for Membership Rewards rebate of $1,000. The CPO X535d (as Roundel calls it) qualifies for $500.
Buyers of a new X6 are eligible for a $1,000 Membership Rewards rebate, while a CPO X6 is eligible for $500.
A new 1 Series is eligible for a $500 Membership Rewards rebate; a CPO 1 Series is also eligible for $500.
The new form will be online soon. Meanwhile, if you are eligible for one of the new rebates, you may use the old form; just write in the correct model and rebate amount.

Thanks, BoatMan. However, the x5d may not qualify for the BMWCCA reward rebate, as it was put in a demo program. I'm still double checking the VIN with BMWCCA.
EDIT: Well, BMWCCA told me that as long as the car is sold with less than 1000 miles and is purchased as NEW (on the purchase order), it will qualify for a rebate. So, it should be fine and I'm going with the 2009 X5d at invoice minus $7k, plus the BMWCCA rebate of $1k, $1800 tax credit and sales tax credit.

Well, my deal on the 2009 X5 35d is done. $7k under invoice and I will receive the $1k BMWCCA reward rebate - as it was sold as new vehicle with 25 miles, with me as first registered owner. All the paperwork is done and vehicle is paid for. I'm singing by to just pick it up tomorrow.

I just got off the phone with my CA and he again said that I could not combine the $2500 and the $4500 eco credit together as ct545i had said. Also, he said the warantee on a 'punched' demo car until it is sold. He knew nothing of the $4500 eco-credit on the X5d carrying over to a 2010 if ordered by Aug 31st. Is he just not informed or are some of the above not true? I am very confused:dunno:
