Wonder how much it would cost to ship to the U.S..

the engine probably weighs about 140kg. The tranny about 45kg. Let's say the overall package weighs about 220kg. FedEx Freight from UK to US charges about 4.3GBP per kg. So, 946 GBP or US$1500 or so for freight.

That would be much cheaper. But there are a lot of questions to be answered:

1. Is this legitimate? Cos the seller isn't quite a auto dealer to begin with.
2. Will this be recognized as an Alpina model? Meaning will Alpina provide tech support, sell spare sparts etc?
3. I presume the dealers here can diagnose any future problems, since Alpinas are serviced at BMW dealerships in the Europe as well?
4. Emissions? Smog?
5. Will I be running in the ZHP class or the B3 3.3 transplant class at the tracks?

Anyway, it's very unlikely I will go for this. Though this is a really good deal. The seller just replied my email and promised more pictures on the way. So hang on there in the mean time...

2 months ago, Alpina manager said B3 S won't make it to the US. So, the investment went into something equivalent. But if I hadn't gone with that route....

2 weeks ago I found out Iman went independent. 1 week ago, we discussed about our special project. 2 days ago, Iman showed up and said project is feasible. And now Ebay UK has this including a 6-speed tranny!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hrm....nah...Lin will probably strangle me if I go with this. Or maybe not. She probably can't feel the difference of the car anyway. Or maybe she might...or not. :eeps:

ARgh!!! I can't take it anymore! Can someone else buy this?????? :bawling:

It probably depends on whether you actually read the appropriate threads or not. :dunno:

:yikes: Anybody got $10K they can lend me?.That is an awesome price for the motor and tranny too. And it's a 6 speed:thumbs:. I doubt that a car that had this motor transplanted into it would qualify as an Original ALPINA car. :dunno: Needless to say, I want that friggin engine:(

1 week ago, we discussed about our special project.

You may want to check with HACK and Stuka about the latest news for the "project," as the cost may be extremely prohibitive... I just got some bad news about it today. :(
