Dear All,

I've just spotted a small lump in my tyre and am wondering if anyone else has had this happen

My car - 330cic, 3 months old... 2000 miles and in showroom condition.

My BMW dealer tells me that tyres aren't covered under the warranty - is this true ? They seem to think that I hit a curb hard and this has damaged the tyre... I find this hard to believe and somewhat poor feedback from BMW.

Has anyone managed to make a warranty claim for a tyre ?

Thanks
Prashan

Tires are definitely NOT a warranty item, but are considered a wear item. That is one thing I always make sure to explain to people when they buy their cars. Although brake pads and rotors are technically wear items too, tires are viewed differently and are not covered.

As for hitting a curb or pothole, it's a distinct possibility. What they could/should do is to check the belts for severe damage if they haven't already. If you're seeing a bulge on the sidewall, I'd say it's time to replace the tire.
