You don't need one in Hawaii. :) You can get just about everywhere you'd need to go in 15-20 minutes, all you have to do is learn how to pronounce and recognize the street names.

<----lived there from 3-18 yrs old, and visit family 2x a year.

Last time I checked, when the Nav was still CD based, they didn't have maps. DVD based might be different.

Great place to live. My brother lived there for 3 years and now my parents are on the verge of buying a house there to live out their retirement.

To answer your question though, yes the nav map is available. For the CD's it is on the California disk; the DVD also has it. I just got back from Hawaii on Wednesday after spending a month there. I missed my nav and it would have been extremely helpful for me this past month. And don't even get me started on one-way streets.

The island of Oahu (Honolulu city and county) is mapped. I am pretty sure the outer islands are not.

The DVD states "Island of Oahu" so you are right.

What is the release date or version of the dvd nav disc you guys have? I just took deliver of my 03 540i sport and the nav disc that came with it said 1/2002. Is that the latest? It doesn't include Oahu and the dealer told me the dvd doesnt have Hawaii so they were going to burn me a cd rom version.

I wonder what would happen if I put in a Hawaii address in my "destination" and hit "Directions"? It might send me across that bridge to Hawaii I heard my neighbors arguing about whether it existed or not! (I'm dead serious... they were arguing about a bridge to Hawaii. One guy said there was because he's seen a car with a Hawaii plate on it. The second guy said he was wrong... but didn't seem completely convinced of the fact.   )

That's hilarious... I bet it doesn't have too much traffic -- I don't see many Hawaii plates around here and only a couple of non-Hawaii plates when I was over there in June. Probably isn't patrolled too much either -- bet you could cruise all day at 120+ (and only make it 1/3 of the way! -- Hopefully it has gas stations and rest stops...

Mine is also 2002-1 and it states it on the info located inside the dvd case. Is that not the case with yours??

I didn't look at the info in the case. I gotta check. But if you have a chance, try looking up Honolulu or Island fo Oahu on the Nav menu. For me its not there. Funny thing is all the restaurants in Honolulu were there. weird :dunno: By the way I called Navtech today and they said that the 2003 dvd update disc is available next week. Thanks for the attachment.

Hmmm ... I tried everything I could think of and nothing. Not that I personally would ever DRIVE to Hawaii but they DO state Island of Oahu on the inside cover. :dunno:

Sorry dchen. At least your dealer is getting you the CD.
