electic window -driver side- problem

HELP.... trying to change the door lock actuator, but.... rolled the window down to get the door panal off and the window landed w/ a "thud" and now won't go back up.
So.... does anyone know a trick to getting it operational since the motor seems to be working, but something is amiss. 1998 328is 2 door - Driver side problem.

What did you do to fix this problem. The window mechanism is broken on my 528 and i'll need to get into it to replace it and would like to know what you learned. I only found one screw to remove and assume the panel is held in place with clip pins. Any advice you could offer would be appreciated. My email is mike4mula@sbcglobal.net.
