This is perfect timing. I'm going through figuring out how to redo my interior, already decided on the shift boot/ebrake, and then you guys have them on sale. Good show guys!

I assume if I get an M3 boot I also need to order a new knob too?

dont think so, but if you feel so inclined...

Only if you enjoy spending money.
You can cut your knob and boot into 2 pieces. Or (recommended) I can do it for you for no cost. I can finish the bottom of the knob with leather adhesive so it looks and feels like a stock E46 (non-M) knob. But to do this, you'd have to send your knob and boot to me. I can turn them around overnight.
One more detail to add.
We have Phoenix Yellow leather in stock if anyone is interested. Same prices as above. I don't have Phoenix thread, but I have done them with black thread and the contrast looks great.

My wife is going to kill me...:(
I want black alcantara with grey stitching, both boots, but leave out the ring base on the shifter boot.
Gotta find a way to sneak the funds to Andy without the missus noticing it. September 13th huh? Mind leaving it open for a little bit longer like until the end of the month? :D

No. That minimum quantity thing made thigs too complicated IMO. Price is the price. End date is the end date. No exceptions.
I can't get LZ email at work. Will check when I get home.

Hi!
just want to check if you've received my paypal payment or not..its from Jesse Lin :)
OK, Hack, here's what you do: Take a minimal cash amount out of the account, buy drugs, resell 'em for a markup, put the original amount of cash back -- voila! Some extra mod money!

Jon, Andy,
I have sent Andy an email. I bought a Whalen knob from Andy last year. I'd like an Alcantara boot that is slightly shorter in height so it isn't as 'squished' as my stock leather one is now. I asked Andy if he could do it. I am hoping he can.
Anyway, I'd still like to get into the GB if possible. Am writing this before the 13th.
Thanks.

Is there any chance that these can be sewn with M style (tri-color) stitching? (similar to the stitch on the M3 wheel).
Just a thought...

Not for the group buy.
If you want this, you will need to send me a colored sketch of what you want the stitch pattern to look like. I will work from your sketch.

Our boots work like the parking brake boot. On installation, the neck gets turned inside out and tie-wrapped to the shifter shaft. If you want a shorter boot, you can always invert more material and tie-wrap up a little higher.

How do I 'officially' order then, Jon/Andy?
I can send a check, but since it is coming from Oregon it will be outside of your imposed deadline...

Jon, Andy:
Got it. Looks like it got sent from Jon's place. That was quick; great job.
I really like it. Creaks a whole lot less than the thicker leather did. The Whalen knob really made the leather creak. Main reason I wanted the new boot.
Couple of thoughts:
1. The alcantara material is a lot thinner and less 'textured' than I thought it would be from the pics.
2. The stitching is 'upside down'. The pics and the OEM boot have the stitches pointing away from driver (ie 1,3,5 gears). The boot you made for me has stitches pointing toward driver (ie 2,4 gears). Normal?

1. Alcantara is a lot lighter weight than most people realize too. They have thicker grades of it available (polyester backing is thicker, the top layers are all the same), but we use the thin stuff because it is the most workable.
2. I can re-make your boot with stitches pointing wherever you want depending on what the base ring came out of. The M3 has 4 sets of stitches: 2 forward and 2 backward. The non-M cars have 2 sets of stitches. Forward on some cars and aft on others. We suspect there are 2 different suppliers based on where the car is assembled.

1. Thanks for the info. Tips on cleaning the stuff?
2. Nope. I like it just fine with the stitches pointing towards me. Makes no difference pointing forward or backward.
