Loud 'clunk', when slowing to stop...

2003 330 Ci, step, with 5k miles and it makes this sound when slowing down to stop. I checked the forums on edmunds, e46fan, bimmer/roadfly etc. and people posted same issues. I have an appt. in a few days at my dealer at BMW Nashville for this issue.

FYI - the people who reported this issue resolved on their 2003 325/330 said the dealer's response was this:

'Reprogram trans, EGS control unit as per SI 24-03-03.'


Other people reported this (I believe older 323/328):

'Conical washer/output flange'


I'll post next week how it goes. This car is the most fun to drive vehicle I've ever owned, btw ( we've owned/own Lexus, Volvo, Mitsubishi 3000, Nissan etc.). I highly recommend the 330 for anyone who's looking...

Dealer reprogrammed trans software and it works great - they were totally cool, and took care of it the same day.

This is my first BMW and so far it has been an excellent experience.

Again I highly recommend the 330 engine - it's a blast to drive.

Update:

Since they reprogrammed ECU, car has been a dream to drive. No problems.

Service experience was great, in/out same day.

So glad I bought this car over others I had considered...
