found this bike today... was wondering what year it is?
the owner died... he brought it back from Germany in the 70's
I think it maybe be a 1953 model but I can't read German.

Am I going crazy here? It reads 1951 :confused:

I would have figured 1951 anyways without being able to translate Baujahr, its the ONLY date i could find... :dunno:

There are two date codes in two different pics up there. One has the BMW emblem and includes typical info you would find on a motorcycle. The other is obviously for the sidecar that I read as 1957 but you are correct, it is 1951.

I totally missed the first picture date. The one that say 1951 was saved as "side car" so you my be right about the actual motorcyle date... :dunno:

FWIW R25/2 serial numbers ran from 245001 to 283650 between 1951-54.

The engine is 247cc producing 12hp @ 5600 rpm.
The Steib LS200 was a popular light sidecar to attach to the BMW single.
