Front end shimmy

I have a 740iL that shimmys at approx 45 mph. Go over, it stops, go under it stops, but at approx 45 mph it shimmys hard, steering wheel shakes, front end shakes. Any insight?

Tons, but you are in the wrong forum. Try the E38 forum. Your shimmy is extremely common. Causes:

Control Arms
Bushings
Badly worn tires


I chased that shimmy for many year on my E38 and my first E66. It pretty much was the tires in both cases.

those E38 boys obviously don't look out for each other enough !!
