Is there a threshold for Avatar?

Is there a certain number of posts before you can have an Avatar? I can't create one and I'm guessing this is probably the reason. Thanks

You only need 1,000 posts if you are not female. Females get avatars regardless of their post count.

That means I still have a lot of posts left!
