I think you might not want to take credit for pics that you don't own the copyright for

Yup, those pictures were taken personally by Stonecutter. I know him from our local german board :)

Whos' Stonecutter, these pictures comes in the e-mail in a Zip file.

If you know who originally took the pictures, please let me know his e-mail and I can write to him.

Thanks!

Jimmy,

Stonecutter is the guy who saw that M5 in his neighborhood and took the pics. I'll send him a private message (since he does not have his email addy on the board) and ask him to contact you.

Ja, you are giving the impression that Stonecutter's copyright was intentionally cropped out.

That looks rather suspicious. :tisk:

Good catch RG.

Thank you very much! :)

PS: I hate to argue but the pictures I received in the e-mail does NOT have the Stonecutter or any kind of logo on it.

I receive more than 250 e-mails a day regarding to BMW & DUCATI, it's very hard for me to go through and investigate everyone of them that I do apologize.

JIMMY

I think the simple solution to that would be to avoid putting your name all over them unless you took them yourself. :dunno:

Guys/Gals, it's all fine. Jimmy kindly asked to contact the person who actually took the pictures.

I'll send him the information, he'll contact Stonecutter and the case will be closed :)

Thanks for your comments. :)

I thought the same, but then I realized many pictures in the BMW NIGHTMARE WEBPAGE were spreading on countless BMW message forum without recognition (though I did not take most of the pictures). So I decided to mark the pictures on the NIGHTMARE PAGE, here is an example:

If I was forward to the pictures, I would just cut 'n paste on the message boards, and this would credit the original picture owner, and save me some trouble too.

Here is an example:

With the way BMW design is headed, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the final incarnation, black rims and all. :eeps:

Now when I see those pics I remember quotes from the Roundel editorial letters: 'pontiac style grill' 'toyota camry headlights' 'becoming a more generic japanese styling' etc.

If you didn't take the pictures, then take your name off from them. It's that simple!

Anyone know what it takes to officially copyright a picture. I mean really, isn't there some legal document or something you have to do to make a picture %100 your property?

I mean great to stonecutter for making the effort to take those pics, but are they really 'his'? Seems to me that the owner of the car could say "Hey that's MY car. You don't have the right to take pictures of it and claim the pics as your property."

u dont have to do anthing to own a copyright on a photo u took.

but to prove its yours, shoot in RAW mode and post jpg on the web...(if u care about protecting your work).
To copyright a picture a legal format of the copyright logo must be used. It's as simple as putting a "c" with the circle followed by your name and date. Without the legal format the copyright is not valid.

Didn't know it was that easy.
