Anybody use the Inv1si mirror ?

I bought my last car, an E30 325i Coupe, from Jim Powell, the inventor of the InV1simirror. He still produces all of them.

It's a pretty slick little piece. I don't have a V1 yet, but I'm going to have him make one for me when I buy a V1. I'm at his house usually every weekend -- I could snap a few pics for you if you want any more detailed shots of what it looks like.

It is just a carrier for the Remote Display. Therefore, there really aren't any bugs to deal with. You still need to have your V1 mounted in the windshield but you no longer need to have it low and center...

If you tell me what mirror Gary uses as a replacement for the M Coupe mirror I'll tell you if it works...Jim makes them for many different models of mirror...

he makes adapters for Ford and GM mirrors, which gives us any of theirs that work.

Gary's product is cool, but of the samples Gary has on his site, I haven't gotten any because I don't like the ones I've seen, and I'm too lazy to find other GM or Ford mirrors.

Besides, I already have my remote display resting on the top of my steering column.

Hmm. I'll ask Jim if he's done any GM/Ford mirrors, and which ones. I'm pretty sure he's done Corvette mirrors...I know he's done NSX mirrors...as well as Porsche, etc.

I've seen many people with the remote display on the steering column. Works just fine, but I've always been a huge fan of OEM/stock look, and that's what the InV1simirror gives you.

I know there's a 3rd brake light stealth install for the V1 (i.e. the unit is installed in the 3rd brake light), but I don't know where you'd do a stealth install on an E36/7 or E36/8...

I have one installed in my MZ3, it works well, just as advertised. The only thing is that a volume control will probably be needed if you install it in a remote location.

Ahhh....yes. Apexcone explains that as well. You still have to mount your V1 somewhere. From the first website, I thought the whole package fit inside the mirror. thanks for the clarification.
