Looking at a 730iL

I know this is the E34 forum but I'm currently looking at a E32 730iL to possibly replace my 535i.

I'm after some feedback on the 3.0 V8 and 5 speed gearbox in comparison to my M50 and 4 speed auto combo.

Is there much difference in real world fuel consumption between the two motors?
Is there a noticeable difference in the torque outputs when driving?

Are there any other issues I should be aware of?

First off any older V8 is going to use more gas than an inline 6. The exact #s I could not tell you. But it is indeed real world and noticable. But with a manual you can use less gass depending on how you drive it but you will still burn more fuel with an older V8. than a straight six manual or auto.

The 3 liter V-8 is fine and WILL NOT use more fuel than the 3 liter M30 6 cylinder. Don't expect blazing performance from it in a 7.
Do some research on the Nikasil alloy the blocks were made from. It was a problem with the fuel in the US, not sure if it's a concern in Oz.
