I called the dealer today and scheduled my next service for Thursday - the indicatator gave me 200 miles left as of this morning. That will put me at 43000. I also told them that there is a clunking noise to look at, and that it was suggested to me that the strut brace bolts need to be re-torqued. I asked them to re-torque those bolts regardless as well as re-torque the engine mount bolts. Finally, I said that that I don't believe that the brake fluid and coolant has ever been changed, so verify that and change if necessary.
Any other suggestions as to what I should have done? FWIW, I will be putting the car up for the winter in 3 to 6 weeks depending on when winter hits up here in New Hampshire
Spark plugs, transmission and differential fluids come to mind.

Look in the Z4 FAQ and you'll find the 2006 Service Maintenance Checklist.

If your SI shows "INSPECTION" then you're looking at Inspection II which includes everything covered by Inspection I (valve adjustment, cabin filter, oil change) plus spark plugs, air filter element, transmission fluid, and differential oil.
Ask for a record of valve clearances and any shims replaced.

the si says oilservice. I hadn't actually looked at that - I was going by mileage more than anything. I will still ask them to check the history of all the fluids to verify that they've been changed at least once prior.
In the end I will end up extending the factory maintenance out to 100,000 miles. I will hit 100k long before the time period is up so I will use all of it. That should give me 1 insp II and another insp I before the maintenance period is up, at least 1 if not 2 "other" fluid change, plus several oil changes. I would expect that to cover the $2500 cost easily, and I believe I've read here that you can purchase the extended mantenance plans at some dealerships at a discount.

How many miles are most of you getting to prior to inspection I ? Assuming those of us that go through more gas, lapping days etc. get to all services sooner. I suspect Inspection I should be between 25,000 and 30,000 miles for most?
Thanks!

I have 23,049 miles on the odo and the SI shows 200 miles until Inspection I. Of course I just drove 300 track miles at Spokane County Raceway getting about 8 MPG so that brought the SI miles down rapidly.
I recently adjusted valves and have 2500 miles to go until my next oil change (4000 mile OCI) so I'll just reset the SI when it goes negative and move on.

8 mpg is exactly what I get at the track.

I had my inspection I around 20k miles, and it's safe to assume I went through the most gas out of anyone posting here.

Thanks Gents! I had a shop reset my SI in-between changes:mad:. I have 21,700 on it right now. I'll schedule Inspection I in the spring.
