Hi , I just changed my oil for the first time in the new (old car, new to us!) car. I am wondering if anyone knows how to shut the damn oil bell dinger thingy off? lol
Thanks

I don't think the oil thing makes any noise.....:dunno:
Maybe you're referring to the seat belt chime that comes on at the same time when you start the car?

I've got a '90 525i and haven't heard a sensor chime for oil yet. When does it come on?

Comes on when you need an Oil Service doesnt it? Im pretty sure you need to take it to a Dealer/Service Center and they plug in a Computer and reset it... in NZ its $20

No need to go to a dealer. You can reset it with a simple jumper wire. Go here and read this article.

i just did it to mine jumped the #7 pin and worked fine. you can also jump 7 to the 19 pin if you have the 20pin diagnostic port and that will also reset oil 3-5 seconds and inspection 10-15 seconds.
