Hey guys, I'm looking to replace the front seats (leather) in my 1992 525i. If you have any good suggestions on suitable, hassle free replacements or where I might get a good deal on the Original Equipment, I'm all ears. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

the seats in my 1990 525i have fronts from a 1994 or 5 540. I got them off Ebay, two hundred for the set. you may also think about having them redone at an upholstery shop. But that rout can cost up to 600 each. Try to put the same type seats in as came out (Heated, memory etc.). If you do not, it will be full of hassle.

By the way: I am a Shellback 83 LOL...

I put 7 series E32 seats in my 92 525iT. They're a little better quality than the 5 series seats and bolt right in. usually easy to find too and got the same color. Around $200 each off ebay. Use the 5 series plastic side pieces.

Another idea, which I am currently pursuing a bit, is to find the sport seats from the M5. Haven't sat in them yet to see if they are any more comfortable. My only real complaint about the regular seats is that the bottom is too short (I have longer legs) and was thinking the sport seats might fix this. Anyone have insight on that?

The sport seats do have an extendable thigh bolster which helps a bit but the sport seats are way harder to find and more expensive too. Imho they're also less comfortable than the regular seats and I have the sport seats in my M5 and regular seats in my Touring.

BTW, I've still yet to figure out if mine work in the touring. They of course illuminate but I haven't felt anything:dunno:

Did you do this swap? If the seats from a E38 will fit (as 7partsonly says above), then these should fit.

I am thinking of replacing my 520i SE (RHD UK-spec) seats with a set from a 530i SE. My seats have no electric functions and am assuming the 530i SE will be the same. If these replacements have eletric functions, what will the hassles be?
