From bmwblog.com - they cleaned of the swirls from a spy photo and came up with this.
Not too shabby!

I hope the c-pillar is a little more "defined" in the real thing. I hate the c-pillar on the Lexus GS, and from the front quarter angle, this rendering looks very similar to the GS.
Loving the front-end, though.

Looks good, but I think I'm going to miss the more aggressive E60 styling. I love the "big cat" look of the front and the headlight in particular.
Love it, looks very classy and refined, although not as agressive as the e60(which i liked)

Dont shoot the messenger, but I can remember back in '04 when the E60 first came out, the headlights resembled more like Dame Edna spectacles than a big cat...

Looks like no sport pack on this one, it'll look a little more agressive with sport package

I agree with others here that while the hood has a classy look it also lacks the "aggressiveness" of a BMW. The angel eyes have really gotten watered down. I fell the whole look of the nose diving and cutting into the front grill is making the car start to look more like a Benz. :yikes:
Comparison can be better seen with a side-by-side to current 2010.
I was hoping BMW's would evolve into distinctively different looks for the 3, 5 and 7-series, but apparently such is not the case......the new 5-series just looks like a larger version of the 3.
Perhaps the conservative approach is more dictated by the passenger-safe front end mandates in Europe, and fear of losing market share in a depressed economy to MB, Lexus, and Audi ??
Does anyone see a 5-series coupe or convertable on the horizon, or consumer desire for same?

Does anyone see a 5-series coupe or convertable on the horizon, or consumer desire for same?My initial reaction was that this idea would cannibalize the demand for the 6 series. But that has not scared BMW away from overlapping target markets in the recent past. I still doubt it.

I acknowledge that the E60 styling took a bit to get used to but I find this design too sedate for the Ultimate Driving Machine!

An ultimate driving machine does not necessarily have to LOOK like an ultimate driving machine. You must first drive the car to come to a conclusion
