I have a UUC SSK and a Rogue Engineering weighted selector rod installed by hack (thanks again  ).
But today I shifted to second hard physically for no apparent reason (wasn't pushing though, ie revs were not high), and now there is slop in the shifter when its in gear. When i'm in gear, the shifter can move left and right about an inch either way, but not back and forth. It feels like crap now. I don't know much about shifters so I don't know where i can go to have it looked at. Any ideas as to what may possibly be wrong or where i can have someone take a peek at it???

ok well then how about this. When your car is in gear, does the shifter have play left and right about 1/2 inch to an inch? maybe i just didn't notice it until now, but it sure feels different.

please somebody's got to know something about this, i haven't driven my car in 2 days because i don't know if this is normal or not. Is it ok for the shifter to have side to side play while in gear? What could be wrong? I tightened the ERK cup screws but there is still play.

ok i got under the car and it seems like it is the carrier. The FRONT end of it (the end towards the front of the car) can slide left and right...
I pushed it so it wouldn't move and then viola, the shifter didn't wobble while in gear. Should the front of the carrier be tight? If so what could be done to snug it up? Should i order new delrin bushings from UUC and maybe a new carrier clip?

You might have more success posting this in the 3 series DIY forum?

ok well i spoke to Rob at UUC and he told me that the left to right play is normal when the shifter is in gear, and that it is just the transmission breaking in. Do you guys have this left-to-right play when you are in gear? it is about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches or so.

That's awfully large. So you're saying the entire carrier has some play, or is the play at the shifter arm linkage? If you're underneath the car, check the two circlips holding the Rogue WSR, and see if they're seated down. If they've poped lose you may experience the "sloppiness", otherwise from what I remembered, the thing was TIGHT when I installed it.
The front of the carrier (where it attaches to the tranny with the :nono::nono::nono::nono::nono: Clip from Hell) should be fairly tight, especially if you have the optional bushings in it.

hack: the two circlips are in all the way just fine.
kaz: the carrier IS wobbling left and right where it meets the tranny, and I do have the delrin bushings
do you guys think i should get new bushings and a new "b!tch" clip? i don't want to take it apart because i'm pretty sure i'll break the clip.
The tough part is that with the location of where all those bits are, it's har to tell without disassembly whether the problem lies with the carrier/bushing/clip or somewhere further deep on top of the tranny. I can't remember exactly what the carrier attaches to (whether directly to the tranny or to another linkage) to speculate, though.

hmm guess i'll just order a new clip then and take the carrier out to see what's wrong...
