for those of you that did your own clutch stop, do you just have the bolt banging against the clutch pedal or did you put on some type of cushioning?

as for now, i've just left the bolt by itself but I'm thinking if i should add some foam or something onto the top of the bolt...

I've got one of Damon's homebrew clutch stops. Damon (as well as others) took the OEM stop, drilled it out and put the bolt through it. See this bimmerfest thread (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15177&highlight=clutch+stop) for the details and pics. Also do a search to find the other DIY clutch stop threads.

You can also look at the BMW330Ci.com clutch stop DIY page (http://www.bmw330ci.com/DIY_Clutch_Stop.htm)

hehehe. Now that I look at it again, my hand is kinda pale...
It's been almost 3 years, and the clutch stop is still going strong.

I used a rubber chair leg cover, looks kind of like the rubber tip on a crutch. 5/8" fit over the bolt head snugly.

I have a rubber peice that you get from the bottom of a crutch -

BTW A Crutch is what you use when you break a leg and can't put weight on it . . . sometimes when reading through the board a reference far fetched as a crutch might confuse some one which is why I am explaining . . .
