I have a 1994 BMW 525i with 146k. At 50 mph the left front tire is vibrating. The vibration stops around corners. I have the wheels balanced 4 times and changed once. Problem still exist. I'm not sure how long I want to keep the car, so I don't want to sink money into this repair. My mechanic told me after consulting with a Porsche race shop the lower control arms were causing the problem, specifically the bushings. About $400 to replace. My questions: 1. could this cause the problem, 2. can I do this repair myself, 3. can I just replace the bushings.

just buy the parts yourself, rent the tools, take a weekend, and keep a six pack in the cooler for afterwards :drink: i think it is more of the tie rods since the vibration stops when you give a turn and the pressure is put on the tie rods :dunno: that has been my experience with my bmw's so far
