I have a 1999 540i automatic with sport package. When coming to a slow stop or moving slowly in traffic (less than 5 MPH) my car will intermittently buck or jump forward. Sometimes it is so aggressive that I actually thought that I was hit by the car behind me. Any similar experiences out there or recommendations for correction?

Yes, this happens quite often when the MAF sensor is going bad
I used to have to STAND on the brakes... felt like iT was shifting into first and lunging...had to be real cautious when coming behind someone, etc
I was throwing NO codes... went in for an update to the software to read the o2 sensor... a day or so later... lunge and the code was thrown
turned out to be the MAF sensor was bad... replaced and I have not had the problem since... if this is a CPO car... then covered... if not the part is 4-500 and is an easy DIY

Check your invoice to see if you bought the RCP (Rodeo Cowboy Package) along with the 540i. :eeps: :D
