Today, all of a sudden, by odometer stopped working. Same time, the gas gauge is bouncing (just filled it up) and pedometer stopped as well. Clock working fine. :dunno:Anyone else ever have the problem? Any thoughts what might be causing it?

Jim, with an '07 you are almost certainly still under the original warranty, or close enough that the new liberal BMW "goodwill" policy will cover you.:D Take it in to the dealer and let them deal with it. Whatever it is it will be expensive IMHO.:yikes: Good luck, and let us know what the outcome was please.

So, took it to the dealer Monday, they say it was a bad instrument cluster. They ordered the part, but on Tuesday, they tell me they ordered the wrong one. It's now thursday, and I still don't have my X3. I was told the vehicle isnt' "taking" the programming. Oh well, at least they gave me an '10 5 series loaner.

Well, it's now been a week, and no X3 returned. Spoke to SA today who said they're waiting on BMW to assist in the programming. Of course, BMW is closed today for the holiday. Will let y'all know how it turns out.

 So, it has now been 2 weeks and I still haven't got my car back. After crappy service from the SA, I'm still waiting. He finally calls me back after "3 days of programming," and tells me that they had to order another part from the warehouse and it will not be in until Monday....THEN the car will still need to be programmed. Has anyone had this problem before, or at least could this be right, or is the dealer not doing me right?

sounds to me like they either fried the CPU, or they have more important cars to work on that will make money. it takes up a service bay to do the programming, which can in fact take hours since the system is so old.

Oh, I know I'm not as important as other cars, I guess...but 2 weeks!!??? My other problem is that I have to call the SA, not the SA calling me to update me on the progress (or lack thereof).

You know what, when my sunroof visor got stuck and they ordered a new one from Germany, they had my car for almost 4 weeks. For the first week the excuse was waiting on parts, for the second week it was we got the wrong part, third week I went in to take the car back when they told me they have fixed it but I refused delivery since they forgot to program it and the sunroof won't stop at so called comfort position, it took them another two week to get that right. I also noticed that they replaced the entire headliner since the seatbelt marks left on B pillar by previous owner were gone and I could just see it was brand new headliner, must have messed it up when they were replacing the cassette since they ordered "wrong" (read more) parts. I didn't mind it that much since they fixed everything and I got new parts. So from my experience, I can say that they have messed up something and are just buying time to fix it. I hope you have a loaner like I did. I was just beating the sh!t out of that 328i then ;)

I take it that they're providing better service to other customers. This is the only dealer in San Antonio and the city is full of military, of which I am. They know we're only here a couple years and then are reassigned, so the odds are I won't be purchasing from them again, and the only other dealer is an hour away (which is where I'm going from now on). But, they gave me a 2010 5 series which I'm driving hard!
