So... I've wanted BMW Type 42(?) Bolted Cross Spoke II wheels since the day I saw them on a 530i Sport. They make them for the E46, but BMW wants an arm, 2 legs and a head for each one! So, I've been looking at some similar equivalents.
I'm looking for some info (like weight) and recommendations on the following wheels:
ASA AR1 - These are "licensed by BBS" and come in a staggered setup like my 330i has now. 17x8 front, 17x9 rear. Closest thing I can find to the Type 42's on Tire Rack's site. Good price.
BBS RA - 17x8.5 all around, and with a BMW OEM look to them, I think they are sweet. Low price for a BBS wheel.
BBS RGR - 17x8 and 17x9, and from what I hear... killer wheels. Price is a major factor however... these are almost as much as OEM wheels.
Mille Miglia MM-S - I've had MM's before and liked them. These remind me of M3 or ZHP wheels. Probably my least favorite of the bunch, but at a good price.
Can you post a picture of each so we don't have to look up each one . . .it would make it easier
One othger thing, if BMW wants that much have to tried Bavarian Auto (or whatever that place is called) I have a link at home for thier webiste if you want it.
Also there are a few sources that sell OEM BMW wheels for better then dealer prices . . .exactly how much is the dealer looking for ?

Cross Spoke II (Style 42) - List $617 each, can be had from my dealership for ~$550 each.

Take a look at the BBS RX. Tire rack has the 17x8 for $275 each. I think these are the closest things to the Type 42s.... Been thinking about using either these or the 17 OZ Superleggera for winter use.

You may also want to compare the weight of the wheels, not just their prices.

At which point you'll see the RG-Rs have a huge advantage. Plus being a forged wheel, it's simply higher quality, which may really be noticeable aesthetically.

Precicely. That's why I asked for the wieght of these wheels in my first post.
Just like I'm looking for feedback on ASA. I know BBS is a good wheel with excellent brand reputation. I've had Mille Miglia in the past, and liked them.

They seem to be a little under $500 at pacific but they are still pretty expensive . . .
I think the BBS RA's are my favorite aftermarket of the list above though I like the type 42's better . . .
The Mille's look nice but there quality worries me plus they are usually on the heavy side.
Some of tireracks wheels show the weight, it looks like they tend to show weights of what they consider to be lightweight.

Be aware that the prices posted on Pacific's website seem to be out of date. On the phone I was quoted prices $40-$50 under what they show on their site.

The web site does list the weight on many we carry, and we will add more as we get time. Once you select the wheel to put it on your carin the interactive wheel search area, it is shown on many in the lower left hand corner on many.

I like the cross-spoke, V-spoke designs as well, nothing against the 68's but they seem to be everywhere. I ordered some 72 replica's, way cheaper & I am not a regular racer anyways. I only ordered the rims w/o tires.

Ah, I see them now... at least on the ones that have it. Guess I couldn't see the forest for the trees... or something like that. :p

Have you considered the BBS RK? They look somewhat similar to the other wheels you're considering, they're among the lightest wheels in the sizes you're looking at, and they're priced pretty reasonably. 16.5 lbs in 17x8 and $288 each.

I agree, the RKs are awesome wheels, very light and very strong. :knocks on wood so he doesn't jinx it: :thumbup:
