Hi Gary,

I have a couple of questions for you...

1.) Will the Hoosier A3S03 245/35ZR18 fit on my 8" x 18" and 8.5" X 18" wheels?

2.) If I put the 245s up front, do you think I'll have any problems with the tire rubbing?

Thanks,
Andy

1) yes

2) no

I wouldn't advise a noobie to start out on Hoosier rubber in a stock BMW but it's your hard earned money to cord away, you'd be better off staying on street tires if you buy that other set of wheels/tires

Please note that the 2003 DS National Champion (Ron Bauer) won on Kumhos in a 330i, healso beat the top 330i Hoosier driver every event they ran against each other, both are top national level drivers

Dude, you're pimping ( :bigpimp: ) those Kumhos pretty hard. :) I would take those things off your hand pretty darn fast if they weren't staggered sized. I am still thinking about it though.

Are you sure the 245s won't fit up front? I thought I heard someone doing that in a 3er. :dunno:

EDIT : Will the 265/35-18 Kumhos fit my 8.5" x 18" rear wheels? If so, will they fit up under the rear of my car without rubbing?

no they won't rub or if they do it's insignifcant, yes they will fit,

see edit above which occurred while you were posting, my concern is not just for selling you Kumhos, I hate to see noobies make the same basic mistakes over and over again

a) Hoosiers require much more setup equipment and driving skill to be worthwhile

b) You have a lot to learn before making that step, you need to be learning how to control the vehicle properly and other techniques than focusing on max grip, etc. Simply installing larger front tires is not the answer.

but that's just my opinion based on competing nationally on Hoosier DOT radials since their inception in 1996 with Stock BMW's.

You're referring to the 265s on the rear, right? I wasn't sure if you saw my edit above.

I do appreciate the advise. Thank you.

Check your PM.

repeat after me:

"Novices should not use Hoosiers or any other track tire."

"265s in the rear = extreme understeer."

"265s in the rear = extreme understeer."

have to disagree with you, the Z4 3.0 Sport comes with the same size wheels/tires as the 330i ZHP and 18" option (18 x 8, 225/40f 18 x 8.5, 255/35r) and the handling balance with the Kumho's is equal or better than the OE tires, the 265/35 is essentially the same size as the original 255/35 tire. The handling balance on the 330i ZHP is well documented. Going to a 265/35 IS NOT going to suddenly create extreme understeer.
