Help, I have a few questions.

1. What can I do to remove a bird poop etched into the clear coat? I'm usually good about removing them as soon as I see them but, I had one get by me.

2. What is the best applicator to use to apply polish by hand? In the past I've used a soft cotton cloth.

3. What is the best applicator to apply wax by hand? In the past I've used a cotton applicator pad.

4. If necessary, what detergent should I use to remove old wax?

1) dunno

2 & 3) I had been using cotton terry for years but switched over to the foam applicators (meguair's brand should be easy to find and inexpensive).

4) 1oz of dawn to 5 gallons of water

there are some good detailing types here but you could also browse the forums over at www.autopia-carport.com. there are lots of detailing propeller heads over there. I got a lot of questions answered there over the last week or so.
