Based on various comments in the forums and Tire Rack's review, I've been interested in a set of Koni FSD's for my 2002 E46 Convertible. Tire Rack's website shows avaibility on 6/10/10. That date seems to keep changing. I was hoping to replace my shocks sooner than that. Are all the Koni's that scarce? Are there other shocks I should consider? My car is basically stock with sport suspension, 18 in. tires, no track or competition activity. No looking to really stiffen up the ride too much. Any comments appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil

Unfortunately Koni has a long backorder on these with no clear ETA, so the date keeps getting pushed out.
All of the other shocks we carry would tend to make the ride noticeably more stiff, with the exception of the Koni STR.T which would only be slightly stiffer.

Gary,
Is it that the FSD's are so much more popular and better than Koni's other shocks, or just production issues at Koni that have caused the backlog?
Would the STR.T's be enough of an upgrade over OEM? They seem to be more available. Are the Koni Sports fairly stiff even with no adjustment?
Thanks,
Phil

The Koni sports would be stiffer and are backordered as well until June. Unfortunately Koni does not share with us why they are backordered.
If by upgrade over OE you're referring to better handling, these will handle slightly better than a set of new OE dampers but not dramatically better like you may feel with the FSD.
