I have the chrome trim around the windows on my car now but its all faded and looks terrible. I want to change it to the flat black to match the black kidneys I am getting. I haven't checked with the dealer yet, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where else I can get them?

The dealer replaced the bright aluminum window/door trim on my wife's '08 535xi last year with the shadowline trim under warranty. The chrome trim was discoloring under the surface (BMW trim has done this since I bought my first 320i in 1979).

I had said to the advisor that we have always had this problem with our BMWs and is there another option for us. He offered to replace all the trim with the brushed satin shadowline trim. He said the shiney shadowline trim does not hold up any better than does the aluminum finish.

I just did mine over the weekend with the DIY link posted above. I think it's well worth it compared to the shadowline vinyl tape I did over the chrome beforehand.
