I cant seem to figure out if i have the folding mirrors or not.. I cant seem to find a button or anything to fold them. I also tried to manually move them and they are impossible to move.

As far as I know, the button is on your driver door where you control the mirrors, right next to the one that switches between controlling left or right side mirror. Push the button to fold in/out or drive away with the mirrors in, and they automatically fold out after 10 seconds or so.

Actually, unless you manually reopen them, they stay closed until your car hits about 25 mph - then they pop back open automatically.:)

Yeah, I just checked the user manual. It does mention 25 mph/40 km/h. I never thought about the speed. Neither have I actually timed how long the mirrors automatically fold open. I just know they do when I forget to open manually. I supposed it's about 10 to 15 seconds when I reach 40 km/h in a residential area where the speed limit is 50 km/h. Good point!

This may be an optional accessory, as it has * indicating so in the user manual. So it's possible you don't have it.

I believe they became standard in model year 2008 for 5 series. It was standard on the 3 series since 2006 (e90). I think it may be part of the premium package.

Is there a way to set up the side mirrors, so when i get home and turn off the car, the side mirrors could automatically close without having to push the button to close them??

BMW10X,

Not on a 5 series (that I have been able to find out)

At least not in North America... our friends in Europe have been able to get this coded (if I recall correctly), but not an option in USA/Canada

It is an option. You can do a vin decode or if you have the two buttons by the side mirror adjustments.
