My 2003 530i has over 100,000 miles and although I still love it, I'm thinking of a newer vehicle.

I am considering either a 2007 530ix or a 2008 528xi, and I would like to know what are the differences, other than the engine.

I know the 530xi come with xenon headlights standard, and the 528xi has the the LED tail lights.

Other than this, what other differences are there?

Bigger engine, updated iDrive, 2007 models DOESN'T have the LCI headlights/tailights and the fender turn lights, Rev meter on 2008-2010 doesn't have the moving lines.

That's all i know.

I thought the 08 528xi had less torque and HP compared to the 07 530xi.

Does the 08 528xi have an AT with another gear compared to the 07 530xi?

I also think the window switches on the 08 were moved down on the arm rest, where they were on the E39.

LOL, never noticed that, yep it seems they moved the windows buttons down and i'm pretty sure the 530xi is more powerful than the 528xi :P
Not sure about the AT, maybe someone else could answer you :D

The 530xi has 255 hp whereas the 528xi only has 230 hp. I was told they are geared differently as well but cannot confirm that. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2010/5/528iSedan/Default.aspx

We have the '07 530 xi and absolutely love it! Just don't run auto vent twice a day (can run the battery down) as I found out.

good luck

Although the salesperson told me the 08 528xi has one more speed in the AT compared to the 07 530xi, the mileage of the 07 530xi is listed as 28 highway, where the 08 528xi is only 25 MPG.

The salesperson said the government changed the way they compute mileage and you can not compare 08 cars with 07 cars because of this.

Anyone know if this is correct?

I just began using this auto-vent feature last week. Plan to use it every afternoon.
Agree it must use battery, and after reading all the battery issues and the need of a battery tender, etc., was concerned.

Others have said it is not enough to make a difference in the batterry, in terms of draining too much from it.

How do you know the vent caused the battery issue?

The auto vent uses quite a bit of battery especially twice a day.
