Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good independant mechanic in Orange County, CA? I'm looking to have the clutch replaced on my 540, as well as a few front suspension items (bushings, ball joints).

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, I don't know about OC, but there is one near to our house in Pasadena:

Phone: (626) 792-3330

The have excellent mechanics.

It's been a while, but German Car Garage was really good with my E36. They're in Mission Viejo on via Fabricante. Carl McGinn owned the place back then - I think he's a long-time CCA-guy / instructor.

The people I know about in Orange County are

1) XP Engineering in Orange - xpengineering.com - they work by appointment, so you'd need to call, leave a message and have them get back to get a quote and set up a time.

2) Bullet Performance in Costa Mesa - check the sponsor/vendors page here at the fest for link to their site

Try the Yellow Pages if you're looking for Bullet's contact info. Their website appears to be down at the moment. :ouch:

Whilst not in Orange County (I think), I would strongly recommend George of Bimmers Clinic (http://www.bimmersclinicinc.com/).

I took my cousin's 5 series there for a major 50K service and was impressed by the excellent work carried out. George is an active BMW CCA member too.

Come spend a day or so in SB and have your car worked on my real Germans at International Autohaus 805 965 8012. They did my clutch replacement right, among many other things. Very good shop.
