Oil filter question

A friend at work gave me an unneeded oil filter (he was a previous 325i owner). It's a MANN 'HU 925/3x'.

Does this filter fit a 2003 525i? It seems that it would since the engine is the same.

What filters are the rest of you using?

I think the 925/3x is for all M52TU and M54 engines that have the plastic filter canister lid. That means it should work on a late E39.

Easy enough to check:

Using a 36 mm socket (or anything else that will work), remove the oil filter from your engine and compare them.
