I've had a few intermittent gremlins.
Most were stored and retrieved when I went in
for servicing. A software update usually did the trick.
Have a few minor ones now but they are nits and only occur rarely.

It's a recent CPO - do they typically update the software when they do the CPO checkout? Is there any way to tell what version of software things are at?

sounds like a low voltage issue is coming on. Search low voltage and many similar threads are here. If you just got it BMW might replace the battery free, but it will take some convincing. I got one right after I got my CPO'ed 545. You could try to hook up to a charger first.

yes i bet they will point the dirty finger at the amp.
it is possible that the amp is preventing the car from going into sleep mode. search sleep mode for more info.
the electronics in the 5 are far more complicated that the honda. Low voltage will cause more freaky warnings and behavior than you can imagine.
