this weekend i installed the clear tail lights in my 330xi.
i know there are many diy's out there on this topic, but i was surprised that none of them forewarned me of a significant problem i ran into - the black plastic part in my trunk, that runs basically from left right - right below the edge of the opening...
(see my page for pics of what i'm talking about)

anyway, if anyone can comment on why no one else had trouble with this part, i'd appreciate it - perhaps other cars do not have this part?
i bought my 03 330xi in germany, tho it's a us spec car. maybe that plays a part??

also, i finished the fronts today, so i'll add them to my webpage sometime this week...

Hmmm, I just checked my trunk, and it looks the same as yours. I never had a problem getting at the screws on either side of the trunk, and changed my lights without having to remove that trim piece. Even with my big hands, I must have been able to get in there to remove the screws. I did use a small, 1/4" socket wrench though, so maybe that's why? I'm guessing it's never been mentioned because other people have been like me and not had the problem? :dunno:

dang, that just doesn't make sense. that thing was absolutely in my way. no getting at the bottom screw without moving that black thing.
wierd! :dunno:
well, thanks for checking your car anyway!
