Here's an interesting idea for extending the range of the remote...basically the guy took the antenna wire for the alarm on his VehiCROSS and ran it up along the A pillar into the roof. Anyone know where the wire is on the e46 and if this is possible?

B.
Not sure where it is on other bodystyles but it's integrated into the rear side glass on the touring, defroster-style. My guess is it's in the glass on all of em.

If you put the remote under your chin, your body will act as a transmitter, extending the range of your remote.

This is a neat trick. I wonder, however, if your body is acting as a ground plane rather
than a transmitter.

Yes the chin trick is the best (and cheapest solution). :D It more than doubles my remote range.

Yeah, technically speaking, you're right.

When I first heard it, I thought it was a joke, but it works. Of course it'll probably give you brain cancer like cell phones  :)

Since there is no scientific evidence of ANY cancer caused by ANY radio frequency radiation, it is highly unlikely that either your remote or a cell phone would give you cancer.
Remember, we have been dealing with man made radio frequency for over 100 years.
Now in radar work, in teh older magnetron based systems, there is evidence of cancer in minatenance workers, who worked waround an operating magentron with the covers off the machine. A magnetron also gives off X-rays that are contained by the equipment covers.
Cell phones and keyless romtes do NOT use magentrons.

Wow just think if they did....
You could open your car from another city.
Anyone have the DIY for this mod?

Oh c'mon, I was kidding.
Holding the transmitter to the inside of your wrist also significantly increases range.... Without getting quite as many strange looks.
