This is one of those projects that I hadn't gotten around to photographing yet, along with the aluminum pedals (two birds with one stone).
Note that the birch steering wheel trim doesn't fit exactly right. There is a gap, which normally isn't noticable. You can see it from this angle between the two bottom spokes. The gap doesn't bother me, and I'm pretty picky.
The part number for the birch steering wheel trim is: 32-30-6-760-155 and it listed for 140 Euros in Germany. I was quoted $250 here in the US (serious gouging). Agent99 (Chris Padilla) on the bimmer.org E39 board was nice enough to help me obtain this item with the help of a traveling friend.
