I thought more people would be interested in this deal...
I'll keep you guys posted, as I am talking with the Insurance Company today, and the dealer.

I have a 1998 540IS and would be interested if it will interchange with my unit. Am I correct in assuming the high cluster is the horizontal LED readout below the tach and speedo? Or it the entire instrument cluster-tach, speedo, fuel, temp gauges and the LED readout?

The entire instrument cluster is the high cluster. It has the digital readout at the bottom that can give you the date, time, miles til empty, etc, etc, etc. It can also be used for StealthOne integration.
I got word back from BMW... $18,000 is the going price on a new motor for a Vanos 4.4 liter motor. i have a feeling the car will be totaled...
If you are up for it, ship your cluster out next day air, and I'll swap them out wednesday, and hopefully be able to send you it back friday, if possible that is.

Thanks, do not need the whole cluster, but would like to know if the LED display in the center console is available and interchangeable with my 1998 LED ; perhaps this is integral with the radio. Please advise.
Thanks, Larry Benson

The MID set up? Sure is available.
I would do that for $100 plus yours.

Interesting. Do you know if the MID is integral with the radio? Do all of the LEDs in your unit work? Is your 2002 unit interchangeable with my 1998 MID?

I know that I only had one pixel out at the time. It should work with your 1998. It does control the radio, and trip computer functions.
