I've seen ads for these valve stem cap replacements that double as tire pressure indicators. They visibly show green, yellow, and red depending on loss of pressure. They are pretty inexpensive, and come in different psi ratings.

Anybody try these? Are they accurate?

Boy, I certainly wouldn't trust something like this. Nothing substitutes for the good old fashioned hand-held gauge, and a normal schedule of checking the pressure.

There was a review about them in some auto mag a few months ago, conclusion was that they were pretty inaccurate.

Not just pretty innacurate.

Very inacurate. In some cases by as much as 5 psi. Every one they tested was innacuarate and they all varied by the amount of innaccuracy.

Exactly.

There's no way you can compare a simple three-stage device with the numerical accuracy of a gauge.
