So I know there's been a lot of smack talk about the Prior Design kit, but sponsorship opportunity rolled my way and it was really too good to pass up. Few things I noticed right off the bat....

the e90ish bumper bottom scoopish lip doesn't extend quite as far out as some of the previous pics floating around the web suggests it to be. That was just a camera angle by product. It does stick out a bit past the bumper (see pics), but not nearly to the degree everyone thought.

One thing that dd surprise me was that due to the position of the bumper, OEM fogs are too deep to fit! The driver side hits against the window washer tank. I had to look for a shallower solution, which is why I initially tried out the LED strip. Looked ok by itself, but I didn't like the look of it coupled with the circular angle eyes so removed it. Shorted out the fog connectors so I'd have no errors and running empty down there to give it the appearance of scoops.

For the quarter panels, I decided to cut the flairs to give it some functional vents.

The skirts because of their design, sometimes in certain lighting, it looks whiter than the body, but that's just in angle light is reflecting off it compared to the downward sloping bottom door.

The rear bumper I opted to give it a diffuser look with the bottom part painted black. I'm still debating if I want to paint the center vertical bumps black to match, but will probably keep it as is for now cause that's how the lines of the bumper really dictate coloring. And with the current Twilight hype, fangs are in

ACS rear spoiler, and ACS roof spoiler (currently re-applying so excuse the blue tape). Excuse the window and roof trim. I just had my vinyl guy rip off the vinyl yesterday for reapplication, but ran out of time and will be finishing that up next week. New wheels are waiting to be mounted hopefully by tuesday (22" DPE SP-16), although the more I look at them, the more I'm thinking of painting the wheel bezel black to match the wheel windows. Dropped on H&R springs, but V3s are definitely in the plans. Exhaust I'm actually going to completely overhaul. I never liked the welds from one of the muffler shops I went to and wanted to go with single muffler setup split in Y pipe as opposed to the current Y pipe, split to two mufflers. Both exhaust tips are functional though.

Hey it's cool. Everyone has their own opinion. Already did the ACS look and my MB kept the classier look, so wanted something different and aggressive. I know most of you are are older and don't dig the aggressive look from all the dissing of Hamman, Rieger and even ACS I've seen here.

yeah, I was hoping it'd be more like the m3 and m6 style front bumper which I love. Close in concept, but just different enough to set it apart.

I was digging around my family shop for solutions and we had a few of these LED strips sitting around from our last order so tried em out. You can get em from iJDMToy here (http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Hella-Style-LED-Daytime-Running-Lights-Driving-DRL-p/led_ddl_sku78.htm) if you want.

Had some adhesion issues on the top part when it went over the rubber strip which is why I'm trying to redo it below the strip. 3M automotive double sided tape. Gonna be testing out the look with roof wrapped in black so the black strip shouldn't make much of a visual impact. Still tweaking things here and there

yeah, it's getting transformed to a show car, not DD. DD I'd go with something that generates a lot less attention. And obviously, a lot of the styling cues are geared towards attention grabbing and judging points at shows, not general public reactions.

the front bumper doesn't flow with the lines of the rest of the front end, it might look a little better on the facelifted 7... Any reason why you didn't go with the facelift?

i don't think it looks that bad but there are some things i would consider doing.

1. I would shave some of the bumper so it won't stick out as much.
2. I would see if i could get some CSL style splitter to fit on it. If you want it to look e9x bumper, minus well go all the way.

might* as well go all the way... :D

Personally i'd never do it (front bumper), especially to a 7. But, you took the plunge and to be honest it looks very nice - congrats.

Btw, I don't think your front bumper is attached properly. It looks uneven.

You're talking about the section where the bumper meets the hood right? It's even, I think that was just a flash effect as I had the flash pointed to the right on that pic to not get flare reflection.

You're right that the ACS spoiler doesn't fit perfectly. I complained to CEC Claus Ettensberger about it, but they just shrugged and said that's the way aftermarket is. Don't know if it was just my spoiler or the whole line, but does require more bodyshop work to get it to fit fully even.

Basically just split the pipe before the muffler to the dual mufflers, but I'm probably going to redo the whole system with a titanium setup...single muffler, split after to the two tips.

If I had to pay full retail, I'd probably have played it safe and went ACS or Wald, but with nearly everything here aquired through sponsorship, I could afford to take a shot at something different. Prior Design kit, DPE Wheels, Toyo Tires, JS Design Factory vinyl, DTM Autobody paint and install. The H&R Springs, Exhaust, and ACS trunk and roof spoiler were the only thing full retail. Even the detailing work I'll be putting in her is sponsored by Smart Wax/Chemical Guys

For all those who dislike the bumper scoop/snow plow, do you just honestly now like that specific design or just that it goes forward beyond the bumper slightly? Like do you go up to M3 and M6 owners and tell them to plow your snow because of the scoop design?? As I pointed out in the below two pics, it barely clears over the bumper by an inch.

Not bashing the haters, just want to gain your perspective. Or just hating for the sake of hating. Quite honestly, coming from the MB world and all the bashing they do on the level of civility and class of BMW forums, most seem true. Not just from this thread, but from several others, enough to see a pattern of behavior. Most guys here are cool and all, but there are plenty of those who show much less maturity. *shrug* You'd think there'd be more civility on a 7 series side than younger folks on entry level 3s, but seems about at par.

All im gonna say, before this turns ugly, is that the people at volvospeed help me more with my bmw than (some, dont want to include everyone) people on here. Ofcouse, I think the underlying problem is that this sub-forum doesnt have enough people. I ma taking the time to write up a complete mods thread that i hope will get stickied. If that goes well, ill write up a complete "most" common problems thread. Thus eliminating (I hope) the endless threads of the same problem which seems to drag down the community since nobody responds anymore......

Dude the front bumper does not flow with the overall design of th 7. Yeah that same "style" front bumper may work on the 6 and the 3 but not on the 7. The 7 series is a big body luxury sedan, it's not a coupe or sportscar.

7 was purpose built for shows, Merc is daily driver. Two completely different modding philosophies catered to two completely different audiences. Would I have modded the 7 this way if I was going to drive it on the street every day? Of course not...I'd just keep it relatively stock and low profile like yours. Wheels on the Merc are DPE SP-5s.

I don't think I was overly sensitive towards opinions towards the mods. I posted in the first post that I fully expected a fair amount of hate just based off trends I've seen on this forum. What I did do was argue my position and try to promote more mature criticism as some here have actually done. I'm perfectly fine if you don't like it and don't need to be comforted with the typical "Your car so all that matters is if you're happy". As stated, this car is by no means complete and I'm looking for different constructive perspectives to help with her continual transformation. I've already taken one suggestion and started putting feelers out regarding shaving the lip in so it sits even more flush with the front bumper and CF composite guys to make CF splitters. Look back at my posts and you'll see I haven't resorted to calling anyone out or resorted to name bashing or anything like that.

Bottom line was I wasn't looking for approval (or even disapproval) from the forums. I'm not that shallow where such would matter. What I was looking for were perspectives on where improvements could be made and directions that I should consider taking.

If it was a rep ACS kit, I would have made the same offer also. However, if its an Authenic AC Schnitzer kit, I too agree he's crazy.

Was the same with me. I got tired of that look as well and wanted to change things up to keep things fresh. Same will probably eventually happen with this look and I'll sample something else.

I like everything except the front bumper. It doesn't flow. The 7's grille isn't slanted enough to compliment the kit. I like the fenders though.

I can respect the craftmanship that has been poured into the car....it's just...I'd rather look a simple coilovers/wheels 7 at a carshow than fancy bodykits and sharktank sound systems. Maybe I'm crazy.

I totally get where that's coming from too and nothing wrong with appreciating simple clean mods. Those cars would just get docked huge points for lack of body, ice, exhaust, interior, and performance categories is the problem.

Wheels just mounted. Give it a day for the ride height to settle back down. Center caps are getting custom painted to match the alpine white wheels. Playing around with the look without the ACS spoiler. A couple distance shots to give a better perspective of the kit.

Thanks. Yeah, with those wheels, took another chance with the color scheme, but think they worked out well. Will probably repaint the bezel to black to make the face design stand out more. Now that car has settled, it looks much better, but V3s are still in the plan to properly tuck the rubbers in.

Some pics from last weekend's car show for your viewing pleasure. Still playing around with looks. Blacked out the roof to match the limo tint. Originally was going to black the roof spoiler to not break the lines, but the Li was so long that decided to play around with breaking up the line for now. Center caps finally in, white to match the wheels. Going back to the shop to play around with a few other design looks.

That's one of the things that's getting done this week. Gonna test out blacking out the chrome and test out body matching white the chrome trim. Not complete by a mile, but finally in suitable show condition.

KW V3s installed. Here's her current ride height. Zero wheel gap and slightly tucked. I like how she sits now, but might have to raise it up a tad due to some scrape issues on some harsher driveways.

You can only purchase this directly through Prior NA. There are other motorsports shops which have accounts with Prior, but you're better off dealing directly with them. And yeah, the kit isn't cheap.
