Iím with BMW of North America, LLC. Good news! In the past few months we had to withdraw all paint sticks from our stocks due to changes in California law. The relabeled sticks have arrived and are now available at your BMW Center. As always, if you have any questions or if we can help in any way, you can reach us at 800-831-1117.

Strange, I went to my dealer 2 months ago and walked out with Orient Blue touch-up without a hitch. What am I missing?

There was a recall of all touch paint due to some labeling issues  I could be wrong, but I think it was a CA thing :tsk:

Definitely not over-regulated :(

So is the paint itself any different or was it just a labeling issue?

What was the issue with the label/paint?

Maybe they need to add a statement on the label that warns the typical California lamewad drivers to not apply touch up paint while vehicle is in motion. :p :D

But seriously.... I'd be interested in knowing too... was it some sort of chemical warning label or something? :dunno:

If one of you want to buy a new tube of touch up paint, I have two tubes of the older, none-California compliant touch up paint we can compare.

Hmm... I've been meaning to buy some. One of these days I'll make a trip to the dealer parts guy and pick up some.

Yeah. How many lamewads are given drivers licenses.

That's been severly under-regulated in every place I've lived. :(

1 bottle of basecoat
1 bottle of clear lacquer

EDIT: Spelled "bottle" as "battle"

ok, thanks! btw, do you write w/ an accent? "1 battle" ? it couldn't have been clumsy fingers because the "o" is on the other side of the kbd! :p

Funny, I was just at the dealer this morning to pick up some touch up paint, and he said it's been out of stock in California for 2 months due to a labelling issue. Has this issue from years past recently resurfaced??

Anyone find a place to buy it recently in CA?

Called the dealer again over the weekend, and now he's reporting the shortage of touch-up paint is country-wide ("from CA to NY"). Hard to believe, since I haven't seen anyone else at bimmerfest reporting a problem finding it...

Sure, but others might be trying alternatives like the AutoVisual pen (http://www.autovisuals.com/). I picked one up at this year's Bimmerfest without problem. Perhaps you could try that route?
