2002 745i runs rough in reverse

We got in our car to go out last night and when I put it in reverse it started to run really "rough". When I put it back in park it idles and revs smoothly and the car drives fine going forward. Everytime we put it in reverse it starts to run rough and surge.

BTW the car is a 2002 745i with 94k miles.

Does anyone have any idea what this is?

i would recommend to check your ignition coils, the recverse is stronger than first gear, so basically the engine is not capable of a good torque on low rpms like in reverse mode.
plus when was the last time you replaced spark plugs?
also check vent valves as well
