I just got my V1, and have to admit I'm a little out of date on the whole radar scene.

Do cops anywhere actually use X band anymore, or do you think X band detection is only good for detecting supermarket doors and office alarm systems?

here in Austin, almost all X signals are from supermarket and malls and stuff, I thought about turning it off, but it's been so long that the X beep doesn't bother me anymore... but also I don't really slow down when X comes on at the usual locations around town.

I'm always afraid that one day all the cops will go back to using X band coz it's cheap and everybody turned it off...

Some of the "county mounties" still use it around here. Kind of funny actually! My V-1 picks them up 2 miles away and I get impatient waiting to finally pass them so that I can get back to the speeds that god intended us to drive!
