View Full Version : F10 Steering

I saw a post in the E60 forum that screamed "Don't buy an 2011 5 Series if you like traditional BMW steering." I had active steering on my 525i and really missed it on my 535i. I am now considering moving to an F10 and want to know if there is an active steering option on the 2011's. Is it one of those "must have" options? Why?

I had active steering on my 650i and wanted to get it on my F10, but it is only available on the RWD version. I think the IAS on the rear drive F10 might be just as good or better than the previous version you and I had because it is four wheel steering and should be better in terms of responsiveness of the car to steering input. However, I suspect the IAS will "feel" different. But I doubt it will have a much different feel than the steering on an F10 without IAS, but it should certainly handle better.

Is active steering like a 'cure' for the relatively uncommunicative F10 base steering?

Sorry guys, I did not see the previous thread on F10 Steering before starting this one. Very informative and enlightening. Thanks to all who contributed.
