Wow... good to see some of the 'more important' roadfly folks over here.

I REALLY like the look of Ron's Alpine Coupe with the blue powder coated brake calipers. I think I'm ready to do it (and the powder coat facility that is imaged on Ron's site has a location in Arlington, TX right down the highway)

What do I need to know? I'll be putting the car up on four jackstands on the proper jacking points, but I've never taken the wheels off the car or changed the brakes (done it on other cars and trucks, but not on the Coupe.)

- What metric size are the wheel bolts? I need to go buy a metric deep socket set to get in there, and I might just buy what I need for now.

- Is bleeding the brakes just like anything else? Bleeder valves and a few good pumps? Should I use a special brake bleeding tool / pump thing? (That's the technical term.)

- Anything I need to tell the powder coat folks other than "please make this blue."

Thanks!!! We definitely miss you over there, but those things happen.

Adam

Was it the 5015 on the chart?

To powder coat the calipers, you have to remove them along with the carrier and remove the rubber parts, caliper piston etc.. Powder coat folks take it from there.

to get an idea of what's involved here.
Much more than I think you want to do.

I guess that gives new reason to go with high temp or Folia-Tec caliper paint instead. I REALLY like the look of yours, but I don't have the experience level you have to be taking them apart into every single piece. Glad I don't have SIX piston brakes!

Take care,
Adam

It was very easy for me, a girl! But I had someone help with the wheels & jack.

But the color looks good & I have done a few autoX events and 2 track events with heavy braking and still is glossy when cleaned.
