Following my nasty car accident on October 5th, when I sadly totalled my LCI 2008 E60 520d:bawling:, my insurer has given the OK to place my order for a replacement 520d.

I am hoping to get a late November week of production for my new F10.:p

I recommend Allianz to all members. They were very efficient and offered to replace my lost car, which had a lot of options, with a new F10, even though my E60 was 2 years old. My policy had a new car replacement clause, if the car insured was totalled within 3 years of first being registered and insured, under the same policy.

Just have to finalise colours, trim etc.

Glad you're OK, and that things look like they will work out for you.

I totalled my dad's car back in 1989, and he also had a new replacement policy - back then it was just for 1 year. I can't remember the insurrance company.

I was quite happy with E60, but the new F10 will compensate me for the loss of the old unit.

Glad you are getting a new ride. What are the stats. on the 520d? We don't have them in the USA. I was wondering about hp and TQ. N4S

It's 184bhp, 380Nm.

Superb engine, brilliant economy. Slightly (ever so) rougher than a straight six, but given the value and economy in the drive (52mpg), it's a great choice in Europe.

The 520d is a nice drive. Can cruise all day at 100 mph (160 kmh) and use a tiny amount of diesel. The new F10 520d seems a lot smoother and quieter than the older E60.

BMW have nicely boosted the output of new 2.0d engine: E60 125kw and 340Nm v F10 135kw and 380Nm. I guess they have just remapped and turned up the boost on the turbocharger of the new powerplant!

I would love a 530d or 535d, but have other things to with my extra $.

The 520d is faster in the 80-120 kmh rollling acceleration, than a 528i, according to the manual, at 5.9 seconds.

I think i have a production week of last week in November. Will confirm that in a few days. I have ordered a Space Grey, Cinnamon Dakota Leather with the Dark Ash Trim. 8 Spd auto, Comfort access. BiXenons, HiFi Professional with DSP, Rear Seat entertainment with 2 screens (for the kids) and ambient lighting, full electric seats with memory and prefessional nav! Folding mirrors too.
