I have a 2003 X5 4.4 and I used to have xm in my previous car. I purchsed sirius because it intgrated so well with my car's stereo. I was having trouble finding someone to work on it. I know they have the new cabeling harness out for xm but I was unable to locate one.

Definitely Sirius. It comes from the factory and works with the factory headunit. There's a couple of write ups on how to install it too. It's about a 30 - 45 mins install to put the unit in.

Where can I confirm that it will work with 2001 head unit? from what I understand it won't work on pre 2003 models?

It won't work with a 2001 headunit, you will need to acquire a 2003 headunit or a late model 2002 that might have the firmware.

Check www.x5world.net they have info on how to setup your satellite.

Trade your stereo for a new one (03-04). Then have them install it for you... I also have Sirius!

Good Luck!

Any idea how much that would cost? Do I do it at the dealer?
