According to the latest reports from Automotive News, it seems that BMW and Mercedes-Benz will shorten breaks at their factories due to the increased demand for their new models. For those who don’t know, BMW launched their brand new 2012 650i Convertible last week, you can read all about it here. According to the report, BMW's Dingolfing and Leipzig plants in Germanu will remain open over the holidays after halting output for about three weeks in 2009.

The Leipzig plant builds the X1 crossover, while the Dingolfing makes the new-generation 5 series. The Mercedes-Benz factory found in Hamburg will also remain open through the holidays, making the E- and S-class sedans.

“This is the first strong signal that the boom over the last few months can continue into next year,” said Juergen Pieper, a Frankfurt-based analyst with Bankhaus Metzler. For those who don’t know, the German manufacturers such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz are back on track now from the financial crisis on a rebound in the United States and growth in China. Volkswagen’s Audi brand is also planning to add more shifts in order to face the demand.
