Eh?

You would think that the 6MT buyer would want at least the Sport if not the dynamic handling package.

Maybe we can ask Greg who ordered it? ;)

Yes very strange.

It says Factory Demo Car on the listing. So I'm guessing it wasn't bought by an actual buyer. That's probably why it's weird - maybe it was spec'd by some clerk in a cubicle who didn't think that far ahead.

Uh-oh, I have to admit I had two 3-series 6MT (and a 6MT C-Class and Passat prior to those), no ZSP! After some years of driving automatics I wanted to get back to manuals for the fun and involvement of driving. I wasn't crazy about ZSP, believe it or not, didn't need or love the extra seat bolstering, the summer, staggered tires along with their side issues. The 6MT's provided plenty of fun w/o needing ZSP. My new 535i is automatic for many reasons. One is resale -- it will likely be difficult to find a buyer. I like to sell in 3-4 years and move on. Another is just the car itself -- when I test drove the 535i originally with the 8-spd auto I had a big grin on my face -- I just decided I could do without the 6MT this time around.

I agree RE the 8 SP Auto. When we test drove the smoothness was absolutely super. The sport seats were also a huge selling point. The car on this link will appeal to someone who loves the feel of traditional sports car shifting.

Mark: you made my point exactly. I would not find a 3 series with M/T and no ZSP odd at all. In this car: very odd, IMO.

Now I see what you mean. The F10 is a different "animal" so you'd expect a more linear sport equipped model along with the manual.

When BMW first releases a model to dealers, sometimes they are all the same. I'm pretty certain that the "first wave" of 5ers to dealers included a 535i manual exactly like that (Black, beige, and lux options).
